Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge
Where Wildlife Comes First

The observation deck near the Refuge headquarters provides an expansive view of the main pool area where Bald Eagles, Tundra Swans, geese, and ducks can be seen resting and feeding.

Take a drive along the wildlife tour loop to catch a glimpse of wild turkeys, white-tailed deer or a determined northern harrier. Enjoy the view of the waving prairie grasses as they camouflage a fluttering song sparrow or gleeful meadowlarks. The diverse mix of wetland, forest, and prairie habitats within the Refuge supports a great variety of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. A detailed list of Refuge flora and fauna can be found by accessing the Refuge planning site.
